InfiniteEARTH and Rimba Raya Conservation continue to conduct Seruyan River clean-up activities each year which is a vital step in building community awareness and a desire to protect our fragile planet.
It takes a community to protect our natural resources
Clean, healthy rivers not only reduce human health risks, they also help to improve quality of life as it ensures that underwater biodiversity is protected and allowed to thrive.
Clean rivers also reduce waterborne diseases in a community where people are dependent on the local rivers for fishing, bathing and social activities.
In September 2020, we conducted an extensive river cleaning initiative involving community members, local government and other stakeholders. This was a follow up to the one conducted in 2019 which was a great success.
The recent River Clean-up Program aimed to remove up to 8,000 kg of waste from the Seruyan River which runs through the project. This will also include areas that lie along the river shore and other villages found in the area.
One of the most important aspects of this initiative is to continue to build awareness by implementing activities that are engaging and fun while highlighting the problems
associated with waste disposal in the river.
We implement river cleaning activities that include all community members
This initiative meets the following UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
